Helping the people of Samoa rediscover
the joy of better hearing

The Free to Ear - Samoa Programme is an initiative we developed to help the Apia community by providing free hearing health care. For four years in a row from 2016 to 2019, a team of audiologists, ear nurses, and client care coordinators from Bay Audiology travelled to Samoa to help those with hearing loss.

With the help of local organisations Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital and SENESE Inclusive Education, our team provided free hearing checks, ear wax removals and fitted hearing aids kindly donated by our clients and partners. 2019 was our biggest year yet - we conducted hundreds of hearing tests and ear wax removals and fitted 215 people with donated hearing aids. We would like to thank everyone who donated their hearing aids for this cause. We feel privileged to be able to partner with Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital and SENESE Inclusive Education to provide ongoing care and support for those with hearing loss.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our team were unable to visit in 2020. However, we hope to return in the near future and help the Apia community with their hearing. Donated hearing aids will be used towards our next Free to Ear Programme.

Have a pair of hearings aids you are no longer using?

If you have a pair of hearing aids that you, or a loved one, are no longer using, you can donate them to the Free to Ear – Samoa programme. Simply drop them off at any Bay Audiology clinic throughout New Zealand to donate them.

We sincerely appreciate your help. This programme wouldn’t be as successful without the support of our clients who have kindly donated their hearing aids to be repurposed.
