Around 466 million people worldwide experience hearing loss. It is estimated that by 2050 over 900 million people will have disabling hearing loss

 

On average, more than 8 of 10 hearing aid wearers feel their hearing aids have improved their quality of life.

 

Research tells us that people who wear hearing devices have:

- better psychological health
- better communication skills
- better personal safety
- a higher quality of life
- higher self esteem

 

Hearing loss is relatively common in New Zealand. The prevalence of hearing loss was estimated to be 880,350 people in New Zealand in 2016. This represents 18.9% of all people.
