Free to Ear – Samoa Programme

Helping the people of Samoa rediscover the joy of better hearing.

For the fourth year in a row – we’re heading back to Samoa for our Free to Ear Programme.

It gives us an opportunity to help those with hearing loss by providing hearing checks, conducting ear wax removal and fitting donated hearing aids.

Our team are excited to be part of such a rewarding programme that helps the people of Samoa rediscover the joys of hearing. We have eight people who will be on the trip leaving in August including audiologists, client care coordinators and ear nurses from across New Zealand.

We’ve partnered with local health organisations Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital and SENESE Inclusive Education in Apia to help provide ongoing care for those with hearing loss. We will provide training for the staff at SENESE so that they can support people with the maintenance of their hearing aids and ongoing screening to provide continued support after our visit.

In 2018 we saw over 350 people over three days and we fitted over 150 people with hearing aids, and we hope to help even more in 2019!

Have a pair of hearings aids you are no longer using?

If you have a pair of hearing aids that you, or a loved one, are no longer using, you can donate them to the Free to Ear – Samoa programme. Simply drop them off at any Bay Audiology clinic throughout New Zealand to donate them.

We sincerely appreciate your help. This programme wouldn’t be as successful without the support of our clients who have kindly donated their hearing aids to be repurposed.
